Dentures and Partials

Missing multiple teeth greatly affects the quality of your daily life and leaves many patients feeling quite hopeless. It’s hard to eat and chew the foods you once enjoyed when you are missing multiple teeth. Plus, talking and smiling at others may make you feel embarrassed about the appearance of your teeth.

Unfortunately, missing teeth are like a downward spiral, as you’re now at a greater risk of losing more teeth.

The good news is that dentures may be the right solution for you. Our doctors are highly skilled and experienced in helping patients restore both form and function to their smiles with dentures.

We understand how you feel, and the decision to replace your teeth with dentures is a big one, so we take our time to explain and guide you through the process from start to finish.

What Is a Denture?

A denture is a removable appliance that is designed to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Typically made of acrylic and artfully designed to match your previous smile, a denture utilizes suction to stay in place, and the key to this is a perfect fit. This is where our highly skilled doctors come into play.

The design and fit of your denture must be perfect so you don’t have movement or slippage when you talk, smile, or eat food. Your denture may require a few additional alignment appointments in the beginning in order to get the fit just right. It also may take a little time for you to get used to eating and talking with your new denture, but you will appreciate how it immediately completes and restores your smile. It will even change the appearance of your face.

What Is a Partial Denture?

For patients who are missing multiple teeth but still retain a large number of healthy teeth, a partial might be the right option. A partial is also removable, and it uses prosthetic teeth to fill in the spaces while anchoring to your existing teeth with a metal clasp. Your prosthetic teeth are designed to naturally complement your remaining teeth so you can smile with confidence again as well as eat and chew with ease.

Your partial can be removed at night for cleaning and brushing, and you’ll still have regular dental appointments to maintain the health of your remaining teeth. Patients with dentures will also need to visit the dentist regularly to monitor the health of your jawbone and soft tissues. You may also need to reline your denture every few years to ensure the proper snug fit.

At Modern Day Smiles, we understand that missing multiple teeth can be a struggle, but we’re here to help you navigate your options and make the right decision for your specific needs. Contact our office today to learn more about partials and dentures.
